Anna Pujol-Mazzini is an investigative journalist, audio producer and fact-checker based in Montreuil, a suburb of Paris, France.
For a decade, she has reported on gender, science, climate and technology around the world. Her work has been published by The New York Times, The Guardian, Reuters, Time Magazine, National Geographic, The Daily Telegraph, The Washington Post, Le Monde and many more.
She started her career as a correspondent for Reuters in London. In 2018, she moved to The Gambia to report on the country's reconstruction after 20 years of dictatorship. A few months later, at 22, she was appointed as AFP's West Africa correspondent, becoming one of the youngest journalists to become a regional correspondent for the news agency.
She has investigated sexual violence in the conflict in northern Mali; published the first account of rape as a weapon of war in the Ethiopian civil war; and unveiled possible war crimes by the French army in Mali.
In 2020, she launched her fact-checking practice, and has since helped award-winning shows, documentary filmmakers and non-fiction authors produce factually airtight work. Some of her clients include Radiolab, Scene On Radio and Drilled.
In 2022, she produced an audio documentary on the criminalisation of climate protesters in France for Drilled.
While working on these projects, she developed her skills in trauma-informed reporting. She now regularly gives talks and trainings on trauma-informed reporting and fact-checking.
